SURPRISE! Baby #2 is on the way!
What a crazy ride this past week has been for us. We have literally known about baby #2 for less than a week and I finally get to share with you guys! It has been the hardest secret to keep for sure, like even worse than when we were pregnant with Blake.
WE ARE 15 WEEKS (ALMOST 16 WEEKS) PREGNANT!
I know. How does it take 15 weeks to find out? I’ll share our story now but it is crazy and happens so fast!
So my last period was in December, so when I had a missed period in January, I took some tests. They were all negative. My period has been irregular since breast-feeding so I wasn’t too concerned with not having one. We also have protected sex (except once, and hello baby apparently!) which made me feel like I was not pregnant! I truly had no signs or symptoms of being pregnant, which I think is super weird. Really the only symptom was consitpation. But I would have never thought “oh I am pregnant”! I just thought I was constipated.
So last Wednesday night, I had a dream. ( a little back information for new people, I work at a preschool. A lot of the parents are my friends and I feel comfortable with!). One of the parents, who is also a nurse, at school was like “you need to take a test, here I have this fancy one that tells you how far along you are.” So in my dream, I took this test and it was positive and I was 19.5 weeks pregnant.
When I woke up from my dream on Thursday, I thought, what can it hurt if I take a test. So I take one when I woke up at 4:45am. IT SAID PREGNANT!! I started to freak out a little bit, because I had NO idea how far along I was or how I was going to tell Joe. I didn’t tell him that morning and just went to work. Once I got to work and the doctors office opened, I called and talked to a nurse. Since my last period was in December, there was a possibility that I was 14 weeks and 6 days pregnant. But the nurse wanted me to wait for an ultrasound and take an HCG test on Monday and then again on Wednesday and then we would do an ultrasound. I was a little confused but said okay.
Well I met Joe for lunch that day and told him he was going to be a dad again! He was a little shocked but still over joyed. He told me that I needed to call the doctor back and try and get in sooner than late next week for an ultrasound. So after lunch, I called and they were able to get me in Friday at 11.
Well Friday morning at work was the longest morning of my life. I hadn’t told anyone at this point and the secret was killing me. I wanted to know if the baby was okay (because I was drinking, had caffeine, and not taking any sort of prenatals) or if the baby was even alive at this point. We had no idea what to expect.
When finally get to our appointment and the ultrasound tech was asking us questions on when my last period was and how far along we thought we were. We obviously had no clue, but if we went off our last period, then possibly 14 weeks. She decided to do the ultrasound on my stomach versus vaginally and said we would switch if we can’t see anything. Well the moment she put the ultrasound on my stomach, you saw this baby!
We are basing the due date off measurements and my last period but baby will be here early September!
