Pregnancy Update
Wow we are full term now! 37 weeks and baby boy can come at anytime now. We had our 37 week appointment this past Friday and I am currently 3 centimeters dilated and my cervix is thin which really means that he could come any day now.
Our doctor is confident that he will come between weeks 38-39. She definitely doesn't think that we will make it to our due date of October 20th. OMG that is crazy to write and say out loud. I am going to be able to hold Blake in my arms in the next two weeks. I am kinda bummed because I really wanted him to come on my grandma’s birthday which is the 24th, so I was hoping he’d be 4 days late. But it doesn’t look like that is going to happen, which I am also okay with because I cannot wait to meet him. The sooner he is here, the sooner I get to see exactly how much he’ll look like Joe (those Botkin genes are strong). How many other moms have gotten upset that their child looks exactly like their husband after they carried them for 9 months.
Are we prepared? IS ANYONE EVER ACTUALLY PREPARED FOR THE FIRST?! Our crib is still on back order and so our nursery is not complete which is hard for me. Everyone has told me that I will not use the crib for the first couple months and that it is no big deal, but it is a big deal to have my nursery complete before he comes. I do not want to worry about putting a crib together once he’s here and Joe will have to go back to work right away. I have really been struggling with this because I know it is God just testing me and my patience. Everything else we have is currently ready for his arrival. We need to hang a few pictures but its hard when we don’t have a crib to center things around. We also need to hang some floating shelves as bookshelves.
We are excited that both of our parents are coming into town. My mom is starting to panic that she won’t be here in time, but they are planning to leave two weeks earlier than they expected. Joe’s parents are planning their trip based off our next appointment which is this Friday. I think everything is going to work out just fine and they will both make it here in time for Blakes arrival.
We are both very excited to become parents. I won’t lie, I am getting nervous. Like do I have everything I am going to need for the first couple weeks. Will I learn as I go? Is breastfeeding as hard as everyone makes it out to be? I have so many questions, but I know that I am going to do great with our little one. I know loving him is going to be the greatest gift I could ever ask for.
