2020 Christmas at the Gaylord Rockies
We got the opportunity to do a little staycation at the Gaylord Rockies during their “I Love Christmas Movies” event. Since traveling has been put on hold for the season for us, we have been taking advantage of all the local places and events. The Gaylord Rockies invited us to join them for their Christmas activities this year and of course we had to say YES! I have stayed at the Gaylord for a girls weekend (linked here) but this was Joe’s first time staying there.
Our room: We got their standard king bed room. We had an amazing view of the mountains from our room (the snow storm make it a little hard to see them) and that was probably our favorite part of the room. The bed was so comfortable to sleep in. We did bring our own pack n play for Blake but the Gaylord does offer pack in plays (for a small fee) in case you didn't want to travel with room. The lighting in the bathroom was amazing. Check out the video of our room below.
I Love Christmas Movies event: I thought this was a lot of fun. They made everyone feel really safe with the different restrictions. You have a tour guide throughout the visit. Basically you will visit different scenes from the most popular Christmas movies. Our tour guide, Christian, was very interactive with us and helped us enjoy it even more. I think Blake loved it the most because he got to see so much. There are different interactive parts that either would make him laugh or slightly scare him. But overall he had a blast.
Christmas Village: Blake absolutely loved the village. It peaked his interest the most. He loved walking around and seeing all the different Christmas decorations. It is just a fun thing to walk through. He loved seeing the candy shop the most. He loved looking through the window.
Overall stay: We weren’t able to do some of the other Christmas activities (ice skating, bumper cars, sledding hill) because Blake is too young. I am hoping that next year he can do a little more. We were impressed on how they handled COVID as well. They had people sanitizing railings and things that were “high touched” constantly. They also required masks in all public places. The restaurants were closed to indoor dining which was a bummer. We had to order food and eat in our room (which I didn’t hate). If you ordered a drink, you had to either take it up to your room or take it outside. This was a bummer because we like to walk around with our drinks. But we ended up taking them up to our room because it was snowing outside and I did not want to take Blake outside.
I highly recommend checking out the Gaylord Rockies. Even if you do not stay for the night, it is still a place to hang out for the day. They have an amazing spa, indoor and outdoor pools, the biggest TV in Colorado, and amazing views. If you have stayed at the Gaylord, I would love to know your favorite part. Share in the comments!
