Dock A Tot Review

We made the decision to co sleep with baby Blake right away after finding out we were pregnant. At first I was against it because I was afraid of rolling over onto him and suffocating him in the middle of the night. I have heard so many horror stories of this happening that it freaked me out like no other. It had happened to my cousins best friend and I remember her telling me the story when I was younger. I also work at a preschool and practice safe sleep there. I have done all of the trainings about safe sleep and co sleeping isn’t exactly the safest thing to do with a newborn. They suggest letting your newborn sleep in the bassinet next to the bed or in the crib.

Joe and I have talked it over and decided for the first couple weeks, we wanted Blake in the bed with us. Blake had been inside of me for 9 months and probably didn’t understand being alone after he came out. We did not want him to feel alone until he understood what was going on a little bit more. Obviously he is a baby and doesn’t understand being alone at all and that’s why they cry so much, but we wanted the adjustment to go smooth.

Then came the Dock A Tot. I had seen them all over Instagram. So many of my blogger mom friends had used it for their new babies. Dock A Tot made it so much easier to co sleep. I felt way more comfortable with Blake in our bed while I was sleeping with him in the Dock A Tot.

I love that the Dock A Tot is transferable and lightweight. Joe has already gone back to work and so sometimes Blake and I spend the evening on the couch prepping for bed. I will rock him to sleep and then put him in the Dock A Tot and then transfer the Dock A Tot to our bed. He sleeps right in between us and there is no way (for us in our opinion) for us to roll over onto him. Both Joe and I are light sleepers so any sound or movement we both wake up pretty easily.

We also have our bassinet right next to my side of the bed that we can easily put the Dock A Tot right into when we do not want him in the bed next to us. We love that we have this option as well because he is still close enough for feedings and diaper changes.

The Dock A Tot has really been a life saver for us and we are so happy to have a product like this in our lives. What is something that your newborn loved and was a must have?
